Georges De feure #4534 - Porcelain vase Limoges - 1901

Extremely rare porcelain art nouveau vase made at Gerard, Dufraisseix et Abbott (G.D.A.) in Limoges, signed with artists monogramm.
With Georges De Feure and Edward Colonna Siegfried Bing wanted to develop an collection of elegant porcelain for La Maison de l'Art Nouveau that combined the best qualities of form in abstraction and symbolism.
Bing was not exactly in favour of mass production and stayed loyal to the role of craftsmaship combined with the artists design.
This vase shows an excellent Pâte-sur-Pâte technique in where an very finely stylized floral decoration in raised porcelain sludge has been applied.
The picture from 1901 shows the artist in his studio with a similar (or the) vase on the showcase behind him.
